BAD LUCK STRIKES AGAIN FOR LUHR AT PETIT LE MANS

BMW Team RLL drivers Lucas Luhr, John Edwards and Kuno Wittmer ended the 2016 IMSA WeatherTech Sportscar Championship with a sixth place at Petit Le Mans.

American driver Edwards qualified the #100 BMW M6 GTLM in sixth, just a quarter-of-a-second shy of the pole time.

After around two-and-a-half hours of racing at Road Atlanta, another competitor hit Wittmer, which undid all the team’s early progress and unfortunately led to an alternator problem. This meant further time was lost in the pits, resulting in a sixth place finish after 10 hours.

“The season in a way ended exactly as it had started – with a disappointing result,” said Luhr. “We wanted to finish the season with a respectable result, maybe even a podium. But this just wasn’t to be. I enjoyed my stints and my pace was fastest on track at the time, but the result was just not possible. This is racing.”
